Traditional
Vases
Let's face it . . . there are traditional tastes
and traditional homes.
What could possibly be more in keeping with tradition than the
very definition of the word . . . hand-crafted, timeless crystal.
For those with a traditional bent, selection follows the 'gift
of kings,' hand-blown and hand-finished Czech crystal.
Traditional vases span the centuries in fine glassmaking.
Since the 15th century, royalty has given and received fine crystal
as a gift appropriate to the timelessness of history. Some of the
current patterns available have survived more than a hundred years.
Why? Because they are prized for the traditional value of pattern
design.
The case of to 'case' or not to case.
Early in the history of glassmaking, it was learned that blowing
a colored vase, then lining it with another clear-blown inside
surface, allowed cutters to bring the two spectacularly to life.
Thus was born what is now known as 'cased crystal.' Color within
the 'case' of clear.
When cut (always by memory, never by guideline) and polished,
a shimmering vase is produced, catching light from nearly countless
prismatic surfaces. That is traditional crystal-making at its best.
