Displaying a large vase

When space demands, as when finding that just-right piece for a massive executive desk or dining-table set for twelve, nothing works as well as an important crystal vase. Space, we have found, tends to fill with clutter, if it's not disciplined. The antithesis of that, is the equivalent of a large man in a roomful of chatterers - is to dominate with a soft voice and a well-chosen word.

The table is set, whether it be a formal dinner for twenty or a romantic dinner for two after the kids are put to bed. Perhaps there's candlelight. Dressed up or dressed down, as the occasion allows, the large vase works to nearly an purpose.

Placement.

For two, set the large vase slightly off-center for an uunobstructed convesation. At a large dinner-party, use tall flowers to keep the sightlines open. On the corner of an executive desk or sideboard, anything works - anything that catches your interest.

Surely the piece itself is a constant invitation to an approving glance.
