Blown
Glass Vases
Glass-blowing finds its origins in the last half
of the century before Christ. That's two thousand years
of craft to grace your table or a corner of your desk.
Blown Glass Vases in the Czech tradition
Czech craftsmen have been working glass for at least six hundred
years, and yet the major swing from utility to graceful new designs
occured mainly in the 20th century.
In fact, it could be accurately said that the Czechs lead the
world in glass design since the fall of the Iron Curtain. We can't
wait for your reaction to what we offer.
All bubbles are not gum or financial
How on earth do they blow a bubble inside a bubble inside the
stem of a fine crystal vase? We have seen it and still find the
art to be more than half alchemy. (It's no coincidence that alchemy
is a Czech tradition as well--all alchemy was not turning base
metals into gold)
An earlier incarnation
Unwrapping a fine flower vase and intrigued by its clarity and
the colors running through it from the light outside, it's hard
to
believe
it was an orange-molton mass at the end of a blowpipe. But it was.
Be careful not to damage it in the eagerness to unwrap.
