is called
'cased'
crystal--blown
black
glass with a clear glass lining blown into it.
Magically--and painstakingly--the piece is then cut by hand, through
the black glass to reveal the clear. This same process is used
in any of a number of colors, but black is elegant beyond description.
Picture this--a master cutter, with the vase balanced on his head,
as he methodically (and incredibly) cuts against a stationary wheel.
